POST TRAVEL SKINCARE

Let’s be real: your skin takes a hit when you’re traveling. All that dry airplane air and the amount of coffee you’ve chugged to regulate your jet lag hasn’t done your skin any favors – not to mention, you’re on holiday! Some slacking is to be expected.

Which is why the moment I’m back from being abroad, I treat myself to a deep clean with a nice clay mask. If you have oily or acne-prone skin, clay masks are your best friends. Why? Because clay has the amazing ability to draw out toxins as well as bacteria. It will unclog and minimize your pores. So whatever gunk you’ve accumulated while traveling is being pulled to the surface and washed away. The result? Softer, smoother, and glowing skin. And who doesn’t like that?

Make sure to apply to a clean face. Let it sit for 15-20 minutes. Make sure that the mask is dry, but not flaky before you wash it off. If it’s started flaking, you’ve left it on for too long. Rinse off with warm water. Follow with toner and moisturizer.

A few favorites I have on rotation:

1 - L’Oreal Pure Clay Mask.

2 - Lancome Purifying Mineral Mask

3 - Goodal Deep Clean Pore Clay Mask

HOLY GRAILSU:M37 ROSE STICK

This rose cleansing stick was made for the skincare addict on the go. I’ve taken this stick with me everywhere from Hawaii to New York to Venice to Bangkok. And in less than two weeks, I’m leaving for Paris and you can bet this stick is coming with me. Why?

First and foremost – it’s TSA friendly! That’s right; because it’s a twist-up stick much similar to a deodorant it’s not classified as a liquid, which means you can just throw it in your carry-on and go. Also, you’ll never have to worry about it spilling. And when you’re ready to use, just add water and apply it to your face in a circular motion. The solid turns into a soapy liquid that you can gently massage into your skin and wash off for a clean, fresh feeling.

That alone would have been enough for it to a holy grail for me, but wait – there’s more. It smells amazing. There’s actual rose petals in it, fermented rose extract, and natural fruit extract. Rose extract in particular comes with so many benefits. As a gentle astringent, it helps to cleanse skin. As an antioxidant, it has anti-aging properties. On top of all that, it also possesses anti-inflammatory properties that will help reduce redness. Talk about a triple threat.
